Our 16th Season is just around the corner!

First of all, sorry for the long gap between blogs, but unfortunately, life seems to get in the way of all our fun!  But, in the meantime, so much has happened with Sidekick that I hope you'll feel it was worth the wait.

"The Affections of May" by Norm Foster is alive and kicking!  We will be presenting this to our audiences at The Tsawwassen Arts Centre from September 13-29 (Thurs, Fri & Sat only).  I am thrilled with our new cast...half new cast!  We are welcoming back to the Sidekick stage after a 10 year absence (from the stage not Sidekick), Laura Sutherland-Smith in the role of "May".  Laura brings a multitude of awards and experience.  She was last seen in "Mail Order Annie" by Carl Cashin.  We debuted that Canadian play and had the pleasure of having the playwright come out from Ontario to see the play.  He still says that we "set the bar too high" with our production and that Laura will always be "Annie".  She first appeared in Sidekick's "Waiting for the Parade" by John Murrell, where she walked away with "Best Supporting Actress" award in Theatre BC's Vancouver Zone Festival.  She stole the hearts of many and has been a solid member ever since, both as a Board member and our Front-of-House co-ordinator extraordinaire!

The role of Brian will be played by Simon Mortimer-Lamb who is a fairly newcomer to Sidekick, but having said that...in his debut season, Simon appeared in "Twelve Angry Men" and "Visiting Mr. Greene".  A resident of Tsawwassen and a musician, Simon shines on stage and we are very happy to have him grace our stage yet again.

Joyfully, Derek Christiansen and Ted Hubert are still with the cast in the roles of Quinn and Hank.  They both bring so much to the stage and the characters.  This cast is exceptional and "The Affections of May" will make you laugh and think...typical Foster!

"The play delivers many serious messages, but you have such fun getting them, it doesn't hurt a bit" - Kitchener Waterloo Record.

"A charmer for all seasons." - Toronto Globe and Mail

Reservations box office will open August 15th.   604-288-2415

The rest of the season will be full of laughter with some serious moments thrown in for good measure.  And we will be presenting 5 plays this season!

Following on the heels of "May" will be another Norm Foster comedy, "Ethan Claymore".  A touching romantic holiday comedy that will entertain everyone.  This is truly a humourous play about old fashioned values and the search for redemption.

"Blends the softness of a Norman Rockwell winter scene with a touch of Seinfeld to come up with a truly affectionate 1990's comedy." - St. Thomas Times Journal

November 15 - December 1 (Thurs, Fri & Saturday only)

The first play of the New Year is "If We are Women" by Joanna Glass.  This is a touching story of three generations of women who gather on the porch for a visit that is full of humour and insightfullness.

"If We are Women is an oasis of insight and honesty." - The Vancouver Sun

"In If We are Women, Joanna Glass delivers enough humour, compassion and hope to touch everyone who sees it" - The Toronto Globe and Mail

February 7 - 23, 2013 (Thurs, Fri & Saturday only)

Welcoming Spring, we bring you "Opening Night" by Norm Foster (how can you tell we really like his work?).  This is a peek behind the scenes of an opening night in a theatre.

"Just plain fun! Foster has nailed these characters beautifully." - Contra Costa Times

"An evening of pure entertainment and boisterous fun." - Timmins Daily Press

"Zany, witty and bright.  This is one opening night you won't want to miss." - St. Thomas Journal

April 11 - 27 (Thurs, Fri & Saturday only)

Closing our Season is one of the funniest scripts every written!  We have produced this play twice before and still get requests to do it again.  We are very happy to bring to our audiences, "Faith County, An Evening of Culture" by Mark Landon Smith.

In Mineola County, the community theatre is producing "Romeo and Juliet".  The cast doesn't have their lines memorized, the set is incomplete and a dog keeps barking;  They're gonna give it a go anyway!

Sidekick won "Best Production" and several other awards at the Vancouver Zone Festival several years ago where the adjudicator couldn't stop laughing when he was adjudicating the play in front of the audience afterwards.  This is non-stop laughter from the beginning to the end!

June 6 - 22 (Thurs, Fri & Saturday only)

All performances at the Tsawwassen Arts Centre - 1172 56th Street, Tsawwassen at 8:00 pm

"Bistro Seating"...refreshments available.  Like dinner theatre without dinner!

See you in September!
