Gearing up for the final production of our 15th Season!

Right on the heels of Visiting Mr. Green, comes The Affections of May by Canada's most prolific playwright, Norm Foster.  But before we move in that direction, a few words to wrap-up another successful run for Sidekick.

Visiting Mr. Green by Jeff Baron and directed by Todd-Elliot Gates, starring Vann Besth as Mr. Green and Simon Mortimer-Lamb as Ross Gardner, was a huge success!  Rave reviews are still pouring in from very happy patrons!  Both Vann and Ross are fairly new to the stage as thespians and they did a remarkable job of portraying both of these characters.  Their believability was uncanny.  Kudos to everyone involved in this production and we all look forward to seeing both of these actors on stage and Todd in the Director's chair again!  Mazel Tov!

The Affections of May is Foster's most produced play in the world. Set in rural Ontario, the play adapts easily to any location. May Henning is the owner of a bed and breakfast in the town of Grogan's Cove.  May is deserted by her husband Brian, who has decided that small town life is not for him, and so he's returned to the big city leaving May to fend for herself.   She soon becomes the woman to "snag" in this small town and is pursued by the local handyman, Quinn and the uptight banker, Hank.  This is one laugh after another in typical Foster form.

Foster writes like he talks...all very simple to understand and always with a sense of humour.  He tells stories like no other playwright can meshing the heartwarming aspect with the humour and always peppered with a little conflict!  The Affections of May is no exception.

We have discussed producing this play for several seasons and finally decided to bring it to our audiences.  I am directing this one and am thrilled with my cast.  New to Sidekick and our stage is the very talented Christine Reade as May.  She brings a fresh outlook and energy to the role and will warm the hearts of everyone.  We welcome back Derek Christiansen (Juror #12 in Twelve Angry Men) as the handman Quinn.  This is Derek's second trip to the stage and he brings the naturalness that Quinn has throughout the story.  Ted Hubert is hilarious as the uptight banker, Hank.  We've loved Ted this season in 12 Angry Men and The Melville Boys.  He will delight audiences yet again as he tackles a totally different role than the others.  Back on our stage is Tony Marra.  Tony was last seen in Dear Santa last season as the sleigh salesman and almost stole the show!  You'll find Tony mostly serving wine in the lobby or working backstage.  We are thrilled he is Brian...the husband you love to hate!  Fortunately for everyone, Tony is nothing like Brian!

We open in May (of course)!  May 10th and run Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings only until May 26th at the Tsawwassen Arts Centre.  Curtain is 8pm sharp!
We perform in a small intimate space set up in Bistro style.  We have wine, beverages, munchies for sale for your enjoyment while enjoying the show.

Don't forget...Mother's Day is May 13th!  Why not bring "Mom" to the show and enjoy an evening at the theatre laughing!

As seating is limited, early reservations are highly recommended.  We have been selling out our shows all season!  Don't be disappointed.
